Phishing is a fraudulent attempt to gather sensitive information about you
or your account. Sovernet will never ask you for sensitive information in
email, including your password, social security number and credit card
Phishing attempts are getting more frequent and sophisticated, and they are
affecting everyone on the internet. Phishers hope that a few customers will
reply with their email account and password, so they can use that account to
send out thousands of spams, or unsolicited bulk messages.
Once this happens, the account has to be disabled and the password changed.
And Sovernet's entire network runs the risk of having email blocked by
providers like hotmail, roadrunner and AOL.
What can we all do?
1) Please remember that no reputable company will ever ask you for sensitive
information in email, including your password, social security number and
credit card number. And you should never provide that information in email.
