Lifeline Financial Assistance Program

Sovernet participates in the Lifeline program in Vermont. The program makes residential telephone services, including monthly basic service charges and installation fees, more affordable for low-income households and senior citizens by providing financial assistance for those who are qualified.

The Lifeline Telephone Service Credit Program (Lifeline) provides eligible consumers with a credit of at least $9.25 per month towards the cost of basic local telephone service. The discount is given by Sovernet, which gets reimbursed from the Vermont Universal Service Fund. The credit appears each month on the Lifeline recipient's bill.

  • Only eligible consumers as determined by the Vermont Department of Children and Families may enroll in the program.
  • Documentation is necessary for enrollment.
  • The program is limited to one benefit per household, consisting of either wireline or wireless service.
