About Sovernet

The following will allow you to send and receive email while connected to Sovernet’s network either via Dial-Up or DSL. If you are connected to an alternative provider you will need to alter some of the settings slightly (see Configuring Email to Send Through A Non-Sovernet Server)


Windows Mail (Vista)

  1. Click on the Tools menu, and then select Accounts
  2. Click on the Add button
  3. In the Select Account Type window select E-mail Account, and then press Next
  4. In the Your Name window enter the name you want your recipients to see, and then press Next
  5. In the Internet E-mail Address window enter your e-mail address, and then press Next
  6. In the Setup e-mail servers window enter the below information, and then press Next
    • Incoming e-mail server type: POP3
    • Incoming mail server: mail.sover.net
    • Outgoing mail server: mail.sover.net
  7. In the Internet Mail Logon window enter your Sovernet username (do not include @sover.net) and password, and then press Next
  8. In the Congratulations window hit Finish

Outlook 2007

The following will allow you to send and receive email while connected to Sovernet’s network either via Dial-Up or DSL. If you are connected to an alternative provider you will need to alter some of the settings slightly (see Configuring Email to Send Through A Non-Sovernet Server)

  1. Click on Tools -> Click on Accounts -> Click New. A new window will open
  2. Please check the box labeled: Manually configure server settings or additional server types
  3. Click Next. You have three choices here; be sure that Internet E-mail is checked and click Next.
  4. You are now in the Internet E-mail Settings window. You will need to enter the following information:
    • Your name: Your full name as you would like others to see it in email
    • Your Sovernet email address: ie; This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
    • Incoming Mail Server: mail.sover.net
    • Outgoing Mail Server:mail.sover.net
    • User name: This is the username you originally set up with your account. It is case sensitive and should not have the ‘@sover.net’ suffix.
    • Password: 8 character password supplied by Sovernet
    • Remember Password: Check this box if you would like Windows to remember your passwordClick
  5. Next, then Click Finish.

Outlook 2002 XP

  1. Click on the Tools menu, and then select E-Mail Accounts
  2. In the E-Mail Accounts window select Add a new e-mail account, and then press Next
  3. In the Server Type window select POP3, and then press Next
  4. In the Internet E-mail Settings window enter the below information, and then press Next
    • Your Name: The name you want your recipients to see
    • E-Mail Address: Your Sovernet e-mail address
    • User Name: Your Sovernet username (do not include @sover.net)
    • Password: Your Sovernet password
    • Incoming mail server: mail.sover.net
    • Outgoing mail server: mail.sover.net
  5. In the Congratulations window hit Finish

Your computer should now be set up to send and receive your Sovernet email. You should proceed to our SPAM filter to review your SPAM filter. You can adjust the filter based on the amount of SPAM you receive. You may need to add specific email addresses to the accept-list. You can monitor email filtered as SPAM via the SPAM folder by logging into Webmail.
