Using Microsoft FrontPage Extensions
This page is for those who wish to use Microsoft’s FrontPage to author files for the virtual web server (webhost.sover.net). Use of FrontPage files on this server requires:
FrontPage Extensions
Microsoft FrontPage Extensions (up through FP ’02), are available for use on our virtual web server (webhost.sover.net). You must have a Virtual Web Address for a domain hosted by SoVerNet to have access to this server. (Note: Sites having a URL of www.sover.net/~username-format are hosted on the basic web-server and do not have Extensions available to them.)
The FrontPage 2002 Extensions will work with FrontPage 98 or 2000. However, not all of the FrontPage 2002 “enhancements” will be able to be utilized ...see http://www.microsoft.com/frontpage/previous/default.htm where you will find detailed advice about version differences.
Be sure to keep a full and current set of all your web files as a backup precaution.
All queries re virtual web addressing (VWA)should be directed to our Sales
Staff .
To have Extensions enabled, you must have the FrontPage Extensions feature as part of your account. This can be done as one of your account’s free options, or purchased separately. Our Accounts department can advise you on the best route for adding (877 877-2120). You’ll need to provide the domain name associated with your account, and an administrator ID & password to use for the administrattion of your FrontPage web. This AdminID and password should NOT be the same as your SoVerNet account’s. NOTE: Both the FP password and ID ARE case sensitive.
To use FrontPage, read the program’s manual, and visit the following for additional info: www.microsoft.com/frontpage/
When it’s time to upload your site files, you’ll “publish” it (using FrontPage’s “Publish” function, not via FTP) to http://www.example.com (ie: your virtual web address/URL) which will prompt you for your FrontPage Admin username/password
