Registering & Managing Domains

IMPORTANT:

NEW Register/Transfer—Your Domain Management Profile is separate from your SoVerNet customer identity—do not use your SoVerNet username and password when you set it up. The first time you register, or transfer, a domain name you create a “profile” which consists of a username and a password.

Once you've registered/transferred your first domain name you can use the same account profile to register other names, so that all are manageable under one profile.

If you prefer to set up separate account profiles for certain domain names, you may do that as well. Clicking the “Register...” link will present you with a search screen for your domain name. Enter the name you wish to register and proceed.

Important—Before proceeding, read and be familiar with the Service Agreement for domain registration. This will spell out your rights, responsibilities, terms of service, and the dispute resolution process. The Domain Registration Service Agreement is completely separate from any service agreements you have with SoVerNet, it is between you and OpenSRS, and it binds you to their terms. Any disputes are governed by the ICANN Dispute Resolution Policy.

Each domain hosted incurs a monthly hosting fee, in addition to the registration fee for each domain name. Depending on the configuration of your Internet service account, the hosting fee(s) may be among your selected free features, or will be an additional charge.

Online Security Options
If your plans include requesting personal or financial information from your visitors—anything that requires transaction security— you should consider SSL (“Secure Socket Layer”), PGP (“Pretty Good Privacy”), and/or Secure Certificates.

More information about these choices, how to determine which is best for your needs, and where to get them is available in our E-Commerce section via the links below. For a quick look at pricing, click here. Note that some security options may fall within the range of free user-selectable features of your Internet account, in which case there would be no additional fee.
