Changes To The Administration of Suspended Accounts
January 22, 1999

As most folks are already aware, it is possible to suspend your SoVerNet account during periods of anticipated inactivity. Suspended accounts do not incur new charges and may be reactivated at anytime.

In order to better conserve resources for active accounts, we will be implementing some changes that will affect accounts that have been suspended for over thirty days. These changes will only apply to accounts that are suspended after Saturday, January 23rd, 1999 .

Beginning with accounts suspended Monday, January 25th , email sent to an account suspended for over 30 days will either be forwarded to an email address provided by the account holder or returned to the sender. It is possible to request forwarding or bouncing of email for suspended accounts prior to thirty days if desired.

Additionally, any files left on the mail, web or shell servers at the time of suspension will be removed after thirty days. This might include old mail and/or web pages. It is recommended that you create back-ups for any files which you might anticipate needing upon reactivation.

These changes also apply to accounts that are suspended for lack of payment or administratively suspended. As always, requests for suspension must be either sent in email while logged into the account in question or signed by the account holder and sent via fax or US Mail. Accounts suspended for more than four months are subject to closure unless special arrangements have been made.
