ILOVEYOU Virus Variants

Over the past 24 hours, several variations of the ILOVEYOU virus have begun circulating on the Internet. While we are continuing to filter the ILOVEYOU virus, our investigations have revealed that attempts to filter these new variants would result in the filtering of a large amount of legitimate email.

The ILOVEYOU virus continues to be the most wide spread of the currently circulating viruses. Customers should be aware of the existence of the others, however, and exercise caution when dealing with any unexpected attachments that they might receive in email. The two most common variations of the ILOVEYOU virus are:
     Subject: Very Funny
     Subject: Mothers Day Order Confirmation

So far, the virus has been attached to messages as a file with the .vbs extension.

We will continue to monitor the situation and, should it become possible to filter any or all of the ILOVEYOU variants without affecting delivery of legitimate email, we will add those filters to those already in place.
