Greetings Friends:

After a long winter, all of us are looking forward to Spring’s warmer weather and longer, sunny days. This seasonal update brings you information on many exciting happenings at SoVerNet. We’re all working overtime to roll-out our new “always-on” high-speed access, and voice, products in the coming weeks, and enthusiastically look forward to bringing you these new services. In the meantime, we have some news to share with you, as well as some terrific special offers.

SECTION I—SoVerNet is addressing the ever-increasing volume of email passing through our mail servers with significant updates and changes.

SECTION II—We have some attractive new SoVerNet products to tell you about—Dial-only, Additional Log-in, Web-only, and FTP-only accounts and services.

SECTION III—We have moved our Northern administrative offices to a more advantageous location in Winooski and ask that you make note of the correct address for sending payments and correspondence.

SECTION IV—SoVerNet’s six retail locations offer a convenient place to do business. We invite you to visit a kiosk, meet our sales representatives and view many of our products, offerings and specials. Currently, we have cellular and paging specials exclusively for our SoVerNet customers.

SECTION V—Find out about our prepayment special on dialup accounts for new and existing customers: prepay for 12 months and get 18! And learn about our dialup referral program: refer a friend and receive a credit towards free access as our way of saying Thanks!

SECTION VI—We are preparing to roll-out SoVerNet Personal and Business High-Speed Access (DSL) and a complete line of telephone services and products. Read about these upcoming new offerings,


 

SECTION IMail Server Updates

In order to address the ever-increasing volume of email passing through SoVerNet’s servers, we have begun the migration to a new mail server architecture. We have already seen one significant improvement as a result of the partial changes that have been made—customer connections to the mail server are no longer being rejected when things are busy.

This transition is a work-in-progress, so customers should see steady improvement as it continues to move forward. Because mail services are so vital, we have always taken a conservative approach to their management and the implementation of changes. While we can’t promise that the transition will be entirely free of hiccups, we are confident that any issues will be minimized and transient in nature.

One of the features of the new mail servers is a restriction on the maximum number of recipients for a given message. This feature is designed to cut down on the number of resource intensive messages passing through the servers and, as a result, the servers should be considerably more efficient.

If you are a customer with legitimate bulk mailing needs, please don't hesitate to get in touch with us to discuss options for meeting your above average needs.


 

SECTION II New Services and Additions

As the result of your suggestions and requests, we are pleased to announce the following new services that may be purchased to augment your existing account.

DIAL-ONLY: If, in addition to your base dialup account you require additional Internet access that comes with a single email address, this account was designed with you in mind. We created it for folks needing additional dialup access for family and office members, who have no need for the other add-ons that come with our full accounts. At $12 each per month, they are perfect for office staff needing remote access or a second or third family account. Each of these accounts comes with its own distinct username and password, making them ideal when you need multiple access accounts.

ADDITIONAL LOGINS: Available for $10 each per month, this feature adds an additional channel of dialup access to a base account that may either be used in conjunction with ISDN, multi-link PPP, or as a separate additional dialup access using the same user ID and password as the base account. Up to eight of these may be purchased per account.

WEB-ONLY Account: If you have a third party who maintains your website and are concerned about privacy and security issues, SoVerNet’s Web-only account was built to resolve your concern. For an additional $5 per month, a designated website author or other third-party will receive access to a specially-created directory separate from and without access to your base account. All features of the base account remain intact and remain completely separate from the additional Web-only account.

FTP-ONLY: Customers who require a separate, private directory for FTP’ing files may purchase this additional service for $5 per month. The FTP-only account allows you to have a second and different username and password login to a directory separate from the base account. FTP-only additional service allows separate file transfers from your base account while maintaining privacy and security.

SECTION III —SoVerNet Relocates Northern Vermont Offices to Winooski

We recently completed the move of our Northern Vermont office to our new home in Winooski. This relocation was initiated to increase efficiency and allow us to become ever more responsive to your needs. The move expands our ability to serve you and bring you new products.

Bellows Falls remains our administrative office. Therefore, to insure the utmost responsiveness to your account needs, we ask that you address all correspondence and payments sent by US Mail, to PO Box 495, Bellows Falls, VT 05101. We remind you to, please, put your username on the front of the check to ensure timely crediting to your account. Mail previously sent to our Cherry Street, Burlington address should be sent to the Bellows Falls address.


SECTION IV SoVerNet Retail Locations

Our six retail locations provide a convenient way to drop off payments, purchase new services and products, and upgrade services. The retail locations offer a personal touch where SoVerNet cellular, paging products and new accessories can be examined and purchased in a retail setting. You can order Internet services at these locations. Our friendly sales representatives are ready to help you acquire the telecommunications products that fit your needs.

The following specials are currently being offered exclusively to you, our customers, and will continue until June 1, 2001. Stop by and take advantage of these deals.

CELLULAR: With spring weather just around the corner, now is a great time to purchase cellular phone service. SoVerNet and Cellular One make it easy and attractive. When you activate a minimum 12-month contract for Cellular One service you will receive one of our in-stock automobile cigarette-lighter chargers (a $30 value) FREE for the cellular phone of your choice. Activation of cellular service is subject to credit approval and there is a one-time $30 activation fee. Cellular customers must be at least 18 years of age, so don't forget to bring a valid ID.

PAGING: If you have need of a pager and paging services, we are ready to provide it to you. When you sign up and prepay for 6 months of basic numeric paging service you will receive 3 additional months of service free—a savings of $33.85! For even more savings, sign up and prepay for 12 months of SoVerNet’s basic numeric paging service and receive 6 additional months of service free for a savings of $65.70!

SECTION V —Prepayment Special and Referrals

In appreciation to our current and future customers who wish to prepay for their accounts, and to those who refer family, friends, and acquaintances who become SoVerNet customers, we offer the following thanks....

PREPAYMENT SPECIAL: When you prepay an intermittent dialup account for 12 months we will add an additional 6 months, absolutely free! You will receive a total of 18 months of access for the price of 12a —bonus of 50% more service! Additional Services ordered at the time of prepayment qualify for this offer as well. This special is available until June 1st, 2001 and may not be used in conjunction with any other discount plans or offers. If you are interested in taking advantage of this, please drop a note to specials@sover.net or give our Accounts Team a call at (802) 463-2111.

Our REFERRAL PROGRAM: You can earn free access time and our thanks as well by referring your friends, family, and acquaintances to us when you learn they are looking for an ISP. We will credit your account up to $20 for each new customer who comes to us via your recommendation. Just be sure that they give us your SoVerNet username in the referral space provided on the Service Agreement, which ensures that the proper account gets the credit. And, of course, there is no limit to the amount of free time you can earn. The “Fine Print” says that they must remain with us longer than 30 days for you to earn the credit.

During our Prepayment Special, if you refer a new customer who takes advantage of this offer, we’ve sweetened the deal and will credit your account up to $60! We hope this offer expresses our great appreciation for your business, as well as being mutually beneficial. “Word-of-mouth” has made us strong, and our customers deserve the credit. SECTION VI Coming Soon: New High-Speed Access and Voice Services

We will soon be offering a number of new telecom service bundles which include Personal and Business High-Speed Access (DSL), as well as a complete line of voice products. With customer beta testing of Personal High-Speed Access (G.Lite/ADSL) currently in progress, these new services are scheduled for roll-out in eight locations around the State in the upcoming weeks, with twenty-one more slated to follow later this year and next.

Along with our current Internet and data offerings, we will be able to provide you or your business with Local and Long Distance telephone coverage, Toll-Free calling, and High-Speed Internet Access (via DSL). All of these services have many additional features and options available.
