SoVerNet NewsLetter, January 4, 1999 SECTION I - New Billing Options and Discounts SoVerNet now offers automatic withdrawal from a checking account as an option for billing of your monthly charges. If you are interested in this easy, automated method of payment, send email to Accounts for details and an authorization form! We have also increased the discounts we offer to those who pay their accounts in advance. Accounts paying for 6 months in advance are now entitled to a 5% discount while those paying for 12 months in advance are entitled to a 10% discount. There are also many new and exciting additional services that may be purchased in addition to those that come bundled with your account! Currently, single-user accounts come bundled with 5MB of web space, 5MB of shell space, additional email only accounts for family members and hosting of up to three domains. Multi-user accounts come bundled with 10MB of web space, 10MB of shell space, up to 12 additional email only accounts, hosting of up to three domains, virtual web addressing and now virtual ftp for one of those domains (i.e., www.example.com, ftp.example.com). Customers may now buy the following services as add ons to the packages outlined above: Additional email only accounts may be purchased by single-user accounts for non-family members or by multi-user accounts who have a need beyond the 12 that come bundled with their level of service. Virtual web addressing may be purchased by single-user accounts or by multi-user accounts who desire more than the single virtual web address which comes bundled with their account. And a new service available to customers with SoVerNet hosted domains -- a virtual ftp directory! This new service comes bundled with the multi-user account and may be purchased by single-user accounts as an additional service. Hosting of additional domains beyond the three that come bundled. Mapping of specific addresses at your domain to SoVerNet email only accounts. For example, you may ask that mail sent to sales@example.com be sent to example@sover.net while info@example.com is sent to example2@sover.net. This is a service which is currently included with a multi-user account, but may now be purchased at the single-user level! As always, additional space on the web and shell servers may be purchased as well. If you are interested in any of these additional services, please send mail to our Sales Department . for pricing and appropriate forms.
SECTION II - We have opened a new office in Downtown Burlington. SoVerNet has provided local access to the entire State since 1995; however, our office has always been in Bellows Falls. We've now opened a new office in Burlington located at 110 Cherry Street, on the second floor, just behind Border's Books. According to Tony Elliott, Vice President, "The Cherry Street office is a real commitment to become a more integral part of the Burlington community, as well as the entire northern and central portions of the State." To celebrate the opening, SoVerNet is introducing special pricing on a variety of dedicated-access high speed connections. Several options for discounts are available for longer-term contracts, and SoVerNet has a sale or lease program available which will provide plug and play equipment to get dedicated connections up and working easily. SECTION III - We are now offering dedicated access to customers in New Hampshire. With the delivery of our second T3 (we now have three ;), SoVerNet is pleased to be able to deliver dedicated services throughout the State of New Hampshire via Frame Relay and Point-to-Point access. For customers interested in a full-time connection to the Internet, our offerings include 56k, fractional and full T1 and T3. Frame Relay is not a mileage sensitive service and therefore, affordable in all locations, whether very urban or extremely remote. Frame Relay access is available in a variety of bandwidths ranging from 56k to fractional and full T1. Point-to-Point is a mileage sensitive service and available into our North Walpole POP. Point-to-Point access is available in fractional to full T1 and T3. We have a sales team ready and willing to answer your questions. Please feel free to ask for details. SECTION IV - A review of recent announcements and changes that bear repeating. There have been a number of recent, (and not so recent), announcements that bear repeating. New, high capacity, high speed access numbers have been added in many calling areas including Montpelier and St. Johnsbury. We strongly encourage customers using the old numbers to make the switch to these new numbers. A complete access list is available by sending email from your SoVerNet account to our auto-responder at numbers . On December 7th we made the switch to a new mail server. An important new feature of this mail server is a quota system that prevents mailboxes from growing to an unmanageable size. Those unfamiliar with the details of the quota system should review the information available at our new mail server site. Customers who have been with us since before July will remember the notices we sent out regarding changing the DNS settings in your dial-up settings. A small percentage of customers are still using the old numbers. While we will continue to support these numbers for as long as possible, we have no way of predicting when they will cease to be valid. To refamiliarize yourself with this issue you may visit the information posted at our DNS site . To find out if your dial up settings are correct, send email to our Technical Support Staff . Again, this issue is only relevant to customers who signed up prior to July 15th. Finally, the December 21st upgrade to a new web server was a terrific success. The most immediate benefit to customers is the addition of a new service -- virtual ftp! Virtual ftp services enable a customer with a SoVerNet hosted domain to establish a directory for use in the transfer of files. This service is included with a multi-user account and may be purchased as an additional service by single-user accounts. For further details contact our Sales Team .
