SECOND—To change the telephone number your computer
dials for its Internet connection:
Windows
95/98 | Windows ME | Windows
2000/XP

For Windows 95/98:
(Note: Be sure that you change the login
name/account name to
your
username plus @sover.net or @ valley.net,
according to which account you have. It should be just like your full
email address.)
- Double-click on the My Computer icon.
- Then double-click on the Dialup Networking folder.
- Next do a single RIGHT-click on the SoVerNet or ValleyNet icon
and then click on Properties.
- In that window, change the phone number in the appropriate field.
- Now click OK. That closes the Properties window. Then
just close the Dialup Networking window. You will now be able to
dial into the
new dialup access phone number with all of the correct settings.

Windows ME
(Note: Be sure that you change the login
name/account name to your username plus @sover.net or @
valley.net, according to which account you have. It should
be just like your full email address.)
- Click on Start > Settings > Dialup
Networking
- Right click on the SoVerNet or ValleyNet icon and then select Properties
- Change phone number on this screen.
- Now click OK. That closes the Properties window.
Then just
close the Dialup Networking window. You will now be able
to dial into
the
new dialup access phone number with all of the correct settings.

Windows 2000 and Windows XP

- Double-click on the SoVerNet or ValleyNet
shortcut on the desktop
- Click on the Properties icon
- On this screen, change the phone number. Make sure the area code,
if
needed, is correct.
- To use the Area Code field make sure
the Use
Dialing Rules box is
checked.
- Now click OK. That closes the Properties window.
Then just close the Dialup Networking window. You will
now be able to dial into
the
new dialup access phone number with all of the correct settings.

Macintosh using ConfigPPP or PPPop (System
7.0.1 to System 7.5.X.)
(Note: Be sure that you change the login
name/account name to your username plus @sover.net or @
valley.net, according to which account you have. It should
be just like your full email address.)
- Under the Apple Menu, select Control
Panels.
- Open the Config PPP control panel.
- Click the Config button in the lower
left.
- Put the cursor in the Phone Num field
and highlight the old phone number.
- Type in the new phone number, and click Done.

Macintosh using Open Transport (System 7.6, 8, and 9)
(Note: Be sure that you change the login
name/account name to your username plus @sover.net or @
valley.net, according to which account you have. It should
be just like your full email address.)
- Under the Apple Menu, select Control Panels.
- Open the PPP or Remote Access control
panel.
- Put the cursor in the Number field and highlight
the old phone number.
- Type in the new phone number.
- Close the Control Panel's window.
- Save the changes.

- Open the System Preferences.
- Click on the Network icon.
- Click on the PPP tab.
- Change the telephone number.
- Click on Apply Now at the bottom
- Quit System Preferences.

Tools > Accounts > Click Mail Tab > Properties > Servers Tab
- Change
outgoing mail (SMTP) to smtpauth.valley.net (ValleyNet
accounts) or smtpauth.sover.net (SoVerNet accounts)
- Check the box
next to my
server requires authentication.
- Click the Settings button and check the
box that says Log On Using, then fill
out the username (add @sover.net or @valley.net to
the end of your username), fill out the password,
and click OK.
- Finally,
click the Advanced tab and change the outgoing
mail (SMTP) to 587.
Click OK.

Thunderbird, version 1:
Tools > Account Settings > Outgoing
Server (SMTP)
- Server
Name =
smtpauth.valley.net for ValleyNet accounts or smtpauth.sover.net for
SoVerNet accounts, and Port = 587;
- Click the Username and Password box,
then change the username to your username and
add @valley.net or @sover.net to
the end of it.
- Finally, where it says "Use secure connection," click TLS.

MAC Mail version 2:
Mail > Preferences > Accounts button > Account
Information tab
Click
button for Server Settings
- Outgoing
Server = smtpauth.valley.net for ValleyNet accounts or
smtpauth.sover.net for SoVerNet accounts
- Server Port = 587
- Authentication pull-down menu = Password.
- Enter your username, add @valley.net or @sover.net to
the end of it, and Password
- Click
OK and
close the Accounts Menu
A window will open prompting you to save
settings, click Save.

Eudora MAC version 6:
Special menu > Settings
- SMTP
Server field = smtpauth.valley.net for
ValleyNet accounts or smtpauth.sover.net for
SoVerNet accounts
- Click Sending Mail on left
- Check the box that says Use
submission
port (587)
- Check Allow Authentication
- Click OK.

Tools > Options
Under Getting Started
- Change the SMTP
Server
(Outgoing) to smtpauth.valley.net for
ValleyNet accounts or smtpauth.sover.net for
SoVerNet accounts
- Check the box labeled Allow
Authentication.
- Click the Sending Mail icon on the left
- Check allow
authentication
- Check use submission port (587).
- Under the pull-down
menu for Secure Sockets When Sending choose Required, STARTTLS.
- Click OK.
